dc.description.abstractDr. Fitzgerald was selected by the IUMG – SC’s board of directors after an extensive search and screening process which included internal and external candidates. A physician with a business degree, he has experience leading a large medical group and health plan as well as a broad network of state and county health industry and government contacts. IUMG – SC is the practice plan for IU physicians. A professor of medicine and adjunct professor in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs, Dr. Fitzgerald is a general internal medicine physician. He has served as president and CEO of IU Medical Group – Primary Care since 2000; and was executive vice president and chief medical officer of that group from 1996-2000. He has served in leadership roles in IUMG – PC’s predecessor organization, IU Health Care and its IU Health Plan, since 1992.en_US
